Pink-tailed Worm-lizard protection

We are protecting and enhancing habitats for endangered Pink-tailed Worm-lizards and Natural Temperate Grassland. The image to the left shows us installing native grassland seeds in 2020 to an area where we have removed high-nutrient topsoil that otherwise stymies natural regeneration forever.

Community Engagement

We are actively engaging our local community, as residents, as volunteers, as Board Members, as visitors and contributors to conservation. We run regular events to involve the community, from art workshops to citizen science programs to support our ecological monitoring. On the right Canberra Institute of Technology students are searching for plants in our woodlands to enhance their botanical skills.

Cultural Heritage

We are actively engaged with the Ginninderry Aboriginal Advisory Group to protect and foster Aboriginal cultural heritage and values. We proactively engage Aboriginal employees and contractors. The tree on the left is a scar tree that was relocated into the Conservation Corridor - which we are monitoring.

Planning

We are planning visitor facilities for the Conservation Corridor that protect cultural and natural values and provide access for the community to experience our amazing landscape. We are following a tracks and trails masterplan and seeking to develop riverside facilities to provide access to the Murrumbidgee River.

Interpretation

We are developing an interpretation strategy that showcases and highlights cultural and natural values. Our interpretation strategy “Framed by Water” respects the long-history of Ngunnawal community management of the landscape, their relationship with water especially, and also tells more recent stories of landscape change.
